AEON

AEON is a Japan-based chain retail group, full name AEON Co., LTD. The company operates a variety of retail businesses, including supermarkets, department stores, specialty stores and online retail. AEON has a presence in Japan and several Asian countries and regions.

As a multinational retail group, AEON is actively involved in cross-border trade. The company operates in the region and other countries through overseas branches, joint ventures and holding companies.  These stores mainly sell food, daily necessities, household goods, clothing, and other consumer goods.

In addition, AEON also provides cross-border e-commerce services through its online retail platform, allowing consumers to purchase goods from different countries and regions through online channels. Through these cross-border e-commerce platforms, consumers can enjoy a wider selection of goods and a convenient shopping experience.

Customer Dilemma

  • Large Amount of Data: AEON has a data warehouse that has been used for more than 10 years. Due to the increasing amount of data and the increasing complexity of business requirements, the existing data warehouse has been unable to support the new business requirements.
  • Sustainability: There are numerous data, reports, and applications in use on the existing data warehouse. It is necessary to carry over all the existing data and maintain user usage habits on the new platform, and improve the response speed of the current platform to support the next 3–5 years of use.

Design Scheme

1. Migrate the Original Data Warehouse

  • The ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) technology was used to extract, transform and load Data from the original data warehouse into Azure Data Platform.
  • Data standardization and data cleaning strategies were implemented to ensure the consistency and accuracy of data.
  • Technology such as data warehouse or data lake is adopted to provide a unified view of data for different departments and businesses.

2. Platform Scalability and Speed of Data Integration Processes

  • Optimize data integration processes to reduce data transfer and processing time.
  • Adopt automated tools and processes to improve the efficiency and reliability of data integration.

3. Data Insights

  • Provide visual analysis tools to present data in a more intuitive way and help business people find hidden information and trends in the data.

Advantages of the Solution

  • Migrating the Original Data Warehouse: it can maintain the supporting capacity of the original data warehouse and provide support for future business needs.
  • Improved Platform Scalability: The ability to speed up data integration processes to support more data sources and business requirements.
  • Improve Data Insight: Provide self-reporting services and visual analysis tools to enable business people to better use data for analysis and decision-making.

Business Empowerment
